HOW IT ALL BEGAN

My name is Sandra Hackenhaar. Brazilian at heart and a true
❛ island girl ❜ with heart!
After living 3 years in the city of light, in Paris, I landed in Mauritius in August 2015.
By discovering the breathtaking landscapes, the turquoise sea and the white sand, I quickly understood that from now on, the swimsuit would become my best friend.
As a fashion enthusiast and follower of Slow Fashion, I was very disappointed not to find beautiful models of bikinis, nor the quality of those that are worn at home.
Um yes ! In Brazil, the swimsuit is sacred! A real MUST-HAVE! The incomparable quality, noble materials and exceptional know-how make the worldwide reputation of the Bikini made in Brazil.
Without my really noticing it, that's when a new project was starting to take shape...
But it was the following year during a trip to Brazil that I decided to pack a few pieces in my suitcase and play stylist with my closest friends. The first reactions were not at all those expected:

My astonishment was equal to my disappointment. Fortunately, they very quickly ended up loving the models and understood the Brazilian know-how: the fewer centimeters, the irreproachable quality, the perfect and precise cut are the secret to feeling beautiful and confident in a swimsuit, regardless of the size. silhouette and especially without being vulgar!
Deal ! The idea of ​​being able to convey to all women this feeling of freedom, power and limitless femininity has therefore made Mon Bikini du Brésil a reality.
It was in 2018 that I started importing and marketing two of my favorite brands in Mauritius. This collection was a real success and finally made this dream possible.
Two years later, when I moved to Reunion, my desire to see all women feel beautiful, confident and feminine in swimsuits has not stopped growing. The need to create my own collections became obvious.
Limited collections that always rely on elegance and comfort, which bring together high-end and eco-responsible materials for a guaranteed effortless style.
This is how Bahia, my first collection, finally sees the light of day!

THE BIODEGRADABLE TECHNOLOGY OF OUR SWIMWEAR:

Amni Soul Eco® is the first biodegradable polyamide 6.6 yarn produced with exclusively Brazilian technology, innovative and pioneering in the world. Its fiber has been enhanced to allow garments produced with this polymer to decompose quickly when thrown away and landfilled.

In anaerobic landfills, its unique composition allows bacteria to access and digest the waste, accelerating the biodegradation process.

Amni Soul Eco® is eliminated from the planet in a maximum of 5 years, while other fibers take decades (about 50 or even 150 years) to break down.

Like other biodegradable products, once landfilled, Amni Soul Eco® breaks down into organic matter (biomass) and biogas; these two elements can then be exploited as new environmental resources and used to co-generate electricity.

What is Amni Soul Eco®?

Amni Soul Eco® is the polyamide yarn with improved biodegradability, developed and produced by Rhodia Solvay Group.

As demonstrated by laboratory biodegradation testing in accordance with ASTM D5511*, Amni Soul Eco® biodegrades in approximately 5 years when landfilled, compared to over 50 years for synthetics in general.
Amni Soul Eco® reduces the environmental impact and the amount of waste left for future generations.
*Standard test method for determining the anaerobic biodegradation of plastic materials under high solids anaerobic digestion conditions (equivalent to ISO 15985).


Why is Amni Soul Eco® sustainable? How does it help the environment?
Every end-of-life product, when discarded, has an impact on the environment. Non-biodegradable products, more specifically, do not decompose after being landfilled, which is of course extremely harmful from an environmental point of view. On the other hand, products with enhanced biodegradability, such as Amni Soul Eco®, have a limited environmental impact because, after burial, they are transformed into organic matter (biomass) and biogas which can become new resources for the environment, as well as used for combined heat and power.


How it works ? What are the necessary conditions for its biodegradation?
The chemical structure of synthetic fibers, in general, does not allow bacterial penetration, which makes the degradation process more complex and slower. Amni Soul Eco®, on the other hand, is made from improved polyamide which, under landfill conditions, makes it easier for bacteria to access and digest waste, thus accelerating the biodegradation process.


What happens if a consumer disposes of the product incorrectly?
In an outdoor environment, Amni Soul Eco® is inert and decomposes slowly. Therefore, if a garment produced with Amni Soul Eco® is disposed of incorrectly, it is advisable to collect it and send it for recycling or biodegradation in a landfill.


Since it is biodegradable, isn't it likely to smell or deteriorate after use? Is it possible that it attracts bacteria that can cause disease in its users?
The biodegradation properties of Amni Soul Eco® become apparent only and exclusively in landfill conditions, where there is no oxygen and where there are bacteria specifically responsible for anaerobic decomposition. Therefore, it does not break down after standard use and the life cycle of this product is the same as that of traditional polyamide yarns.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PARTS MY BIKINI FROM BRAZIL

To avoid all the inconvenience and make the most of your rooms, here are 4 tips:

  1. Wash them gently by hand after each use in cold water;

  2. Use a mild detergent or mild soap;

  3. Let them dry in the shade;

  4. Never iron them.

Very important: Never wash your pieces in the washing machine or with hot water!
